L’avalanche by Olga Sabko
The artist experiments with the possibilities of printing technique and extends the role of color which is usually being treated as a secondary instrument in graphic art.
Olga skips drawing and engraving — the ultimate steps in a multi-step process of traditional printing. The pressure of the printing machine smashes paint and creates rich color fluid clouds on the paper surface. The artist is not in charge to control the final result, she rather chooses to have some trust in the very process and stays open to unexpected outcomes. And they prove to be truly special ones.
In this piece, there's nothing peripheral or central, it is neither graphics nor painting, and each element and shade is equally meaningful. A flawless plastic matter in motion.
